Pioneer Home Progress

(Click photo to enlarge it)

Have you noticed the progress being made on the Peterson Pioneer Home?

At the time of the home relocation, the back wall of the home was found to be in extreme need of repair.  Chase Miller has rebuilt some of the studs, repaired the sill, and installed insulation board.

Miller Blacksmith and Welding fabricated the cellar door support.  James Pierce’s Body Shop donated the painting of the support.  Kris and Bob Ziegmann painted the cellar door, attached it to the frame and placed it at the site.

Joel Ahart has been working the lot for preparation of the lawn.  However, the dry weather has been a hindrance.  A top coat of black dirt will need to be spread before the seeding can be completed.  The well pump, quilt block and flagpole will then be displayed.

A major part of the work so far has been possible by The Sac County Endowment Fund Grant and donations from the community businesses and citizens.

Plans are currently underway for the replacement of the back door and siding, front porch repairs and also new metal shingles.  The Barbara and Gilbert Renze Grant of $3,040 will fund part of Phase II.   Application will be made for this year’s Endowment Fund Grant. Community support would be gratefully accepted by Deb Reinhart, Treasurer of the Odebolt Betterment Committee.

If you would like to set up a convenient time to tour the Peterson Pioneer Home, you may call City Hall (664-2231), Deb Reinhart (668-4185), Kris Ziegmann (664-2789), or Kathie Willhoite (664-2585).
