Country School Progress

The appearance of the Richland #1 Country Schoolhouse on Odebolt’s Second Street “Historical Block” was changing this past week.  The many siding boards which were primed earlier this summer by Steering Committee members and friends were being put into place by the crew of Greg Neville Construction.

As the weather turns cooler, our endeavors toward completing this project will turn to the inside of the building….namely insulating, and rebuilding the walls, ceilings and floors.  Any interested parties are welcome to join in on the creation of our community’s Rural School Museum.

Funding for the project to this point has come from:  Sac County Endowment Foundation, Renze Charitable Trust, Keep Iowa Beautiful Derelict Building Program, Paint Iowa Beautiful, Google Employee Match Program, area businesses, clubs and organizations, the City of Odebolt, individual contributions, and our book sales.  We thank you all for your generous support.
