Richland #1 rural school house was moved to Odebolt by the Rural Legacy Project and will now house the Iowa Rural Schools Museum.
The Rural Legacy Project Committee has planned a "Reminiscing Get Together" for Friday night, June 14th, for the Committee, people who attended or taught in a country school, or had a parent who taught, and the 4-H boys who attended meetings in Richland #1 after it discontinued classes.
The evening will start with a sneak pre-viewing of the Iowa Rural Schools Museum at 6:00 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. a light meal will be served at the Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall followed by a night of memories, visiting, and rekindling of old friendships.
The Iowa Rural Schools Museum is housed in the Richland #1 School House that was moved into Odebolt and is now located on 2nd Street across from Odebolt Museum.
It will hold a Grand Opening Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on June 15, followed by an all-day open house. The rural school museum will also be open Sunday afternoon.
If you attended or taught in a country school and would like an invitation to "Reminisce", please contact Jim Meyer at 668-4184.
