Iowa Rural Schools Update

The Iowa Rural Schools Museum of Odebolt will continue to be open on Wednesday from 10:00 to 4:00 and Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 until the end of October.

As always, for other times throughout the fall and winter, please call 712-830-8328 or 668-4285 to arrange another time to visit.

While we do not have water or plumbing, we encourage clubs and other groups to plan an hour with us as their program for a meeting, as we do offer adult seating around a table as well as the school desks!

We have on hand the books written by Sandra Kessler Host and Dorothy Kessler Engstrom and, in addition, we have another version of the T shirts offered at Creek Days in honor of our grand opening.  Pictured above, you see the name below the drawing is now “Iowa Rural Schools Museum of Odebolt”, in a burgundy colored shirt with silver drawing and lettering.  We have sizes of medium, large, and extra large for $10 at the school house.

Mail orders, with a small shipping and handling charge added, may be requested at: Rural Legacy Project, 1870 290th Street, Odebolt, Iowa, 51458 or at raaschcd@netins.net.

A reminder too, if you have not already done so, to vote for the naming of our historical area on Second Street which includes the Rural Schools Museum, the Peterson Pioneer Home, the Odebolt Museum, the Green Space and corner Clock, Monument Circle and the Banks.  Votes will continue to be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on October 25th.  Check out the Odebolt City website or City Hall for voting information.
